Google appears to be having trouble displaying favicons for websites in search results. We also noticed this issue last week for some sites.
Brodie Clark raised this on the SERP Alerts page on X, flagging the favicon issue.
Brodie wrote: “Heads-up: Google seems to be struggling to show favicons for a large number of sites right now. This happens from time to time and isn’t necessarily an issue with your own site, but it could be worthwhile to replace it with a new favicon (based on the specs) if it seems outdated. Or just leave it and wait for them to resolve it. Up to you.”

As Brodie noted, this kind of issue tends to happen occasionally and usually isn’t tied to anything wrong with an individual site’s setup.
